- Velox (vel-ox) is a Latin word that means "swift, "rapid," or "speedy." It's often used to describe things that are fast or agile.
- Velox is a subspecies of the Sharp-Shinned Hawk (Accipiter striatus velox), native to North America and known particularly for their tremendous agility.
- While most birds of prey hunt in open areas, the Velox typically lives and hunts deep in the forest enabled by its exceptional flight agility to navigate obstacles and accomplish its objective.
