Velox Valuations Expands into San Diego with Local Experts

In a recent San Diego Business Journal article, local property appraisers Robert Long and David Lane have transitioned their firm, First Sum Appraisal, into the Velox Valuations network, rebranding under the national firm as of February 1. The move provides them with access to an expanded client base, advanced technology, and a scalable business model to support future growth.

Long and Lane, who have been business partners since 2021, see this as a strategic opportunity to build on their success and extend their reach beyond San Diego. While their expertise has primarily been in residential real estate appraisals, they plan to diversify their services with the backing of Velox’s infrastructure. Their Pacific Beach office, currently staffed with three employees, is expected to grow to a dozen team members by next year, with further expansion into Orange and Riverside counties on the horizon.

Despite shifts in the housing market, Long shared in the article that the demand for appraisals remains steady, as they are necessary not only for property sales but also for estate settlements, divorces, and tax appeals. Looking ahead, they anticipate 2025 to be a stable year for the industry, with a rise in refinancing activity.
